SPEAKING OF HIS GLORY

The glory of God is multi-faceted and includes all the goodness of God. Let’s begin by getting a good definition of what the glory is. The glory of God is the manifested presence of God. It is a demonstration of His goodness not only in the world, but in our lives personally.

There is not one English word that can fully describe what the Bible word for glory actually means. One commentary I read many years ago said that all of these words are included when you use the word glory: wealth, numbers, commerce, power, wisdom, promotion, superiority, dignity, authority, nobility, splendor, valor, magnificence, extraordinary privileges, and advantages. It is ALL the GOODNESS of God!

The voice of the Lord is upon the waters; the God of glory thunders….The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty. The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars.…The voice of the Lord splits lightning….The voice of the Lord makes the wilderness tremble….The voice of the Lord makes the hinds bring forth their young, and His voice strips bare the forests, while in His temple everyone is saying, Glory!  Psalm 29:3-9 (Amplified Bible)

THE GOD OF GLORY

God is called the God of glory in Acts 7:2. In Ephesians 1:17, God is the Father of glory. In Psalm 24:7-10, He is the King of glory. In 1 Corinthians 2:8, Jesus is the Lord of glory. In Hebrews 2:10, we see that Jesus died to bring many sons into glory. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says that we are changed from glory to glory. 1 Peter 4:14 says, “…the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you.” In 1 Corinthians 2:7, the Apostle Paul says of his revelation, “But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory.” Jesus is the Lord of glory and came that we might enjoy the same glory (John 17:22-24).

GLORY: GET LOADED

The Old Testament word for glory is kabod. It simply means heavy - as in heavy or loaded with the goodness of God. In 2 Chronicles 5:13-14, when the people praised God saying, “The Lord is good and his mercy endureth forever,” the glory filled the temple. Heavy filled the house and the priests could not stand up. The manifest presence of God filled the temple. Today we can be so filled with the glory of God that we get loaded with His goodness and saturated with the life of God.

THE GLORY: CONTEND, CONTAIN, CARRY

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.... Colossians 1:26-27

As New Covenant believers, God has called us to be carriers of His glory. We contain and carry the glory of Jesus. The glory of God is one of the most outstanding characteristics about Him. Even though God is everywhere, His presence is not manifested everywhere. Now is the time for us to lift our voice and contend for the glory of God to be manifested in this generation. As you lift your voice and speak of His glory, there will be a radical change of scenery in your lives.

Listen! I hear the voice of someone shouting, “Make a road for the Lord through the wilderness….The glory of the Lord will be seen by all mankind together.” The Lord has spoken – it shall be. The voice says, “Shout…”  Isaiah 40:3-6 (TLB)

The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ is designed to carry the glory of the Lord in these last days. The prophet Habakkuk saw a vision of the glory.

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. Habakkuk 2:14
